Prayer

Is there a right way to pray?

There are just as many styles of prayer as there are reasons for praying. No matter the style, praying is our way of actively, deliberately seeking God’s ear. Not only his ear but His complete attention. Whether we are praying in a group, or all alone, the desire is the same. We want God to hear and answer our prayers.

Some believe that you should pray only once about a need or heart’s desire and let it go. Some put their petitions into God’s hands and watch Him work. There are those who follow the example of Jacob and refuse to let go until God blesses them, even if it means going back again and again until they receive an answer. Whichever way you chose to go before God, the important thing to remember is to take your concerns to Him.

Living the OPWP way means our prayers are aligned with God’s will. So, we can be assured that our prayers will be answered.

How do I know what to pray for?

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)

Does God hear me when I pray?

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. (JER 3:33)

How often should I pray?

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 THES 5:16-18)

Will God answer my prayers?

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (1 John 5:14-15)
